Lord, bless us. We all are a lute, a guitar of the Holy Spirit. But we don’t know how to play this instrument. We strike its wooden frame with our fists and think it will play this way. No! The song will come, as St. Kalistos says, if we strum its strings.
The guitar is our heart and our body, our whole body. And we need to strum its strings, that is, our senses, with the name of the Lord. But which strings? Because many of us pull at strings of envy, desires, cravings. The important strings are those of pain, our living pain. And let us not scatter this pain as I have done for so long. Let us strum these strings with the name of the Lord. And that is where the song comes from, and there is joy in that song. You can’t feel joy in the string. The string will not bring you joy unless you make it vibrate; that is, if you let it vibrate - not randomly, however, but with the feather of the name of the Lord.

What a truly powerful image.
